Good News: LVTC Students Win a First Prize in the Second Cross Border E-commerce Skills and Data Analysis Contest

From News Center (Text and photo by Wang Xiaojuan from School of Trade and Tourism Management) From November 25 to 28, 2023, the Second Cross Border E-commerce Skills and Data Analysis (Higher Vocational Group) under the 2023 Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition co-sponsored by BRICS BC, IASDB and China-Foreign Cultural Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education was grandly held at Guangxi Agricultural Engineering Vocational Technical College. LVTC students won a first prize. It was the first time that LVTC had participated in the competition. And LVTC turned out to be the only higher vocational college in Guangxi that won a first prize of the competition.

The competition consists of three stages: preliminary (audition), semi-final and final. The main forms of the competition include examination of cross-border e-commerce expertise, practical skills assessment, cross-border e-commerce data analysis and report writing, on-the-spot reporting and defense. It took eight months (April to November 2023) to complete the whole process (preliminary, semi-final and final). A total of more than 2,800 teams from over 500 higher vocational colleges competed. Finally, four teams from LVTC successfully entered the final-- the most among all the competing higher vocational colleges. Teachers Liu Yihong, Wang Xiaojuan and Zhang Bei from the "International Economics and Trade" major served as instructors for the LVTC teams. LVTC Team 1 composed of students Huang Ying and Wei Youyi from "2021 International Economics and Trade Class" won a first prize; LVTC Team 2 composed of students Tang Yuhe and Qin Yixia from "2021 International Economics and Trade Class" won a third prize. Teachers Wang Xiaojuan and Zhang Bei won the honorary title of "Excellent Instructor". At the same time, LVTC was granted a "Best Organization Award" by the Organizing Committee of BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition and the International Alliance for Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development for its outstanding organization work.

It is reported that the BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition is an international competition recognized by the Preparatory Committee of BRICS Summit 2017, filed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and approved by BRICS BC. The competition has been successfully held for six sessions since 2017. Cumulatively more than 160,000 people have participated in the competition and related conferences, exhibitions, displays, technical exchanges and other activities. The competition has been submitted to the supreme leaders of BRICS countries as an achievement design in the "Annual Report of BRICS BC" for five consecutive years. As an important platform for promoting educational cooperation, skill development and cultural exchanges among BRICS countries, the competition is highly recognized by BRICS countries and greatly supported by relevant units under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the PRC.

The attainment of excellent results in the competition, inseparable from the concern and strong support from school leaders, further promoted the transformation and upgrading of LVTC's training of urgently needed cross-border E-Commerce skilled talent and data analysis talent, and fully demonstrated the fruits of School of Trade and Tourism Management in practicing the teaching reform of "promoting learning, teaching, improvement and construction by competitions". LVTC will take this opportunity to strengthen the construction of the major and cultivate more high-quality versatile talent for cross-border E-Commerce.
